From fine cuisine to immaculate spa facilities, luxurious accommodation, and of course, its internationally renowned golf courses, Fancourt offers discerning travellers the complete package.
Perhaps due to its enormous size, a stay at Fancourt is much like a stay at an estate or resort. Pretentiousness is nowhere to be found and guests are made to feel welcome and at home. Accommodation options
Offering 115 rooms, guests can choose between Classic, Luxury, and suites of one or two bedrooms. Our stay in a Luxury unit ensured unrivalled views of the Outeniqua Mountains from the balcony, fantastic attention to detail and a thoroughly restful experience.
The Manor House, Fancourt’s original 1859 homestead, offers a more exclusive stay and a full luxury experience. International satellite television, return airport transfers and daily afternoon tea in the garden lounge are just a few of the amenities and services included in this indulgent stay.
Exceptional cuisine
Every taste is catered for with Fancourt’s four dining options, each overseen by Executive Chef, Desmond Morgan. Henry White’s is the perfect choice for those looking for the ultimate foodie experience. With high-end cuisine, meticulous wine selections and a historical setting, the venue doesn’t disappoint. For a more casual, family-style meal, La Cantina brings authentic Italian flavours to the Garden Route as well as daily buffet breakfasts. And for American-style dining, look no further than the Club Lounge & Bar.
Monet’s, the artisan French bistro-style eatery, was my favourite. With views of the golf course and mountains, gourmet meals and a selection of goodies to stock in your own pantry (think cookie mixes, jams and biscuits), every meal could easily be enjoyed here.
Leading golf courses
Fancourt is well known for its three 18-hole Gary Player-designed golf courses. The Links, Outeniqua and Montagu courses are all ranked in the top 201 of the Golf Digest ranking of South African golf courses for 2016 – with the Links nabbing the top spot. Pros and amateurs alike are catered for at Fancourt’s golf course, with an on-site academy and the option to book lessons throughout your stay. Regular golfing activities ensure the whole family will enjoy the experience.
Leisure facilities
Golf aside, guests can enjoy a number of activities on-site, from the stunning in-door Roman bath to tennis courts and Eco-Rider tours of the estate. The fully equipped Leisure Centre also has gym facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, a childrens’ play area, a cinema and chill areas for teens.
Business facilities
Fancourt’s newly renovated conferencing facilities make it an ideal business and conferencing destination, with the added option to facilitate training seminars. The Conference Centre consists of a banquet hall and six meeting rooms and is equipped to accommodate groups from six to 400. Decadent eats can also be organised for events.
Exploring the Garden Route
With such a beautiful setting and so much happening on-site, guests could easily spend their entire stay without leaving the grounds. But it would be a mistake to miss out on getting to know the Garden Route. Fancourt is ideally located (just 7km from George Airport) to act as a base for exploring the area. This was demonstrated in our excursion to Knysna where we easily managed to fit in a walk through the Featherbed Nature Reserve before evening. Guests can also enjoy trail running, cycling, wine-tasting, beach visits and more without too much of a drive.
