Get a bird’s-eye view at the Nay Palad Bird Nest

Date:

A safari is about much more than just seeing the Big Five, and birding experiences are big news in the world of bush travel these days. The Nay Palad Bird Nest at Segera Retreat offers an awesome escape in the heart of the Laikipia Plains, one of Kenya’s most beautiful safari locations.

Expect to nest and sleep like a bird, with a grand bird’s-eye view of the striking wilderness below and beyond. How’s that for a unique holiday?

While the entire nest structure is built with raw materials such as farmed wood and tree branches woven into a nest by community members, the interior suite features all the mod cons including a fully equipped bathroom with running, solar-heated water and a flushing toilet.

Guests can enjoy the African sunset, feast on a picnic-style dinner on the top deck and fall asleep under the stars. In the morning, they’ll find a surprise picnic breakfast on their doorstep, which they can enjoy while watching elephant, giraffe and other wildlife drinking at the river.

To wake up to the magical sound of wildlife and birds, surrounded by pristine nature as far as the eye can see, is a life-changing experience; this is a place of true, untouched wonderment,” says Carolin Dekeyser, founder of Nay Palad.
