The romance novel publisher revealed its top 20 romantic destinations in the world, with the semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar being the only African representative.
The island, off the east coast of Africa, has long been a favoured travel destination for singles and couples alike and now the international community has taken notice.
Mills and Boon commissioned travel experts to shortlist the best destinations for a romantic getaway and 2 000 readers then voted for the top 20.
Some surprising inclusions were St Petersburg, Russia, and San Francisco, USA.
