Global luxury lifestyle guide Elite Traveler has released a list of the world’s most expensive and sinfully opulent hotel suites, with price tags that are sure to stun.
At the top of the list is the renowned Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, Switzerland. The uber-lush 1 680m2 penthouse occupies the entire eighth and top floor of the hotel and has 12 luxury bedrooms, marble bathrooms, incredible views of the lake and one of the world’s largest TV screens.
For the peace of mind of its celebrity guests and heads of states, the suite comes complete with bulletproof windows, emergency alarm buttons and a reinforced safe. How much would all this set you back per night? A not-so-modest $80 000 (R105 0764,81).
The only hotel from the African continent to make it onto the list is Hotel Mansour’s Riad, in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, at $43 480 (R570 688,08) a night. Here, luxury fittings are the order of the day, with a personal hammam to boot.
