If its variety you’re looking for when it comes to the nightlife, Berlin, Germany, certainly offers just that. From techno parties to Katerholzig, an indoor and outdoor club where DJs from the club’s own record label, Katermukke, play.
Rio de Janeiro
For the New Years’ Eve party to rule them all, head to Copacabana beach, where locals and travellers party up a storm. The best time to travel to the region is between December and March for the Brazilian spring, which is wet but warm.

Dance to the beat of Africa in the melting pot that is Lagos, one of Africa’s shining gems. The city remains vibrant from day to night. Make sure to visit the late, world-renowned musician Fela Kuti’s New Shrine, which is home to the annual Felabration music festival.

When it comes to the nightlife in Tokyo, Japan, you’re in the land of plenty. According to Gap Year, Japan offers “more than 80 000 bars, with at least 25 000 of these in Tokyo”. It’s said finding these in the various districts may be easier when tagging along with a local, but when you do, you can take your pick of karaoke bars to mega-clubs, such as the world-famous ageHa.
