Surfing at Muizenberg Beach

Out at night
Capetonians make the most of the full moon and so there are a number of great things to do when there’s a full moon.
Take a walk up Lion’s Head on a warm summer evening for a really great experience. Start at the trail at the foot of Lion’s Head on the road to Signal Hill in the late afternoon.
A stroll along the Muizenberg Beach is great on any summer’s evening, but join the local community on a Saturday closest to the full moon for the monthly Muizenberg Moonlight Meander
Children and adults alike will enjoy another nighttime activity: Promenade Mondays, a fun ride along the Sea Point beachfront promenade that’s held every Monday evening starting at 6pm. Join the crowd on your skateboard, longboard, rollerblades, roller-skates or BMX.
A different point of view
At Acrobranch in Constantia Nek you’ll find treetop adventures, Tarzan swings and ziplines suitable for all ages. While the little ones are having fun on the yellow course, teenagers can opt for the more challenging blue or green courses.
Rush, South Africa’s first trampoline park, is an enormous space with wall-to-wall trampolines. Exercise while you have fun. There are special events for teenagers and toddlers, so the whole family can participate.
Then there’s always the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway – a fantastic option for anyone visiting the Mother City (not matter what their age).
Take the kids along the Boomslang Walkway at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, for a decidedly civilised adventure surrounded by nature.
Train Rides
The youngest in the family will love an old-fashioned kiddies’ train ride. Hamley’s Toy Shop, recently opened at the V&A Waterfront, offers a tour through part of the Waterfront on their quaint, whistle-tooting Hamley’s Express train. It must be the easiest way to get round the Waterfront – but larger moms and dads may struggle to fit inside!
A classic for kids for over 50 years, Sea Point’s Blue Train Park is one of a range of activities on the Sea Point beachfront: a maze and mini-golf course complement the train.
In addition to the above, there are wonderful beaches, fantastic nature reserves, one of the world’s finest aquariums (The Two Oceans Aquarium), fun markets, the Cape winelands, and heaps of outdoor activities.
