SAA cabin crew member Linda Claassens says Hong Kong is her favourite destination by far! She shares her favourite activities.
I feel alive when in Hong Kong; there is a “vibe” that I cannot describe… is it fantastic … It is a city that almost never sleeps! I love the rich culture and traditions, along with the friendly, hard-working people ..
Walk The Streets
When visiting Hong Kong, you simply have to walk the streets of Hong Kong island. There are so many shops, restaurants, nightclubs and bars. Don’t forget to have the local beer Tsingtao, to quench your thirst!

Temple Street
I enjoy visiting the markets on Temple Street- the famous Night Market – and the Ladies Market for shopping.
I really like eating at the Temple Street Night Market, especially the garlic-broccoli and sweet & sour pork dishes – they are simply delicious.
Star Ferry
The best view of Hong Kong harbour is on-board the Star Ferry and is an experience on its own… so affordable and acceptable.
Lama Island
I can also highly recommend a day trip to Lama Island on the ferry. Hike to the other side of the island (it takes around three hours) and have lunch at one of the many restaurants for the freshest seafood you will ever eat.
Nan Lian Garden And Chi Lin Nunnery
They are the most beautiful and tranquil Chinese gardens with bonsai trees and koi fish ponds that are hundreds of years old. You will be swept away; it’s hard to believe it can be so beautiful and peaceful in the middle of this vibrant and busy city.
Victoria Peak
If you are into photography, a visit to Victoria Peak will be worth your while. You’ll be able to capture the most stunning photos of the Hong Kong skyline in the late afternoon, not to even mention the beautiful sunset and laser show every night.
