It’s one thing to see the Winelands from the comfort of your car but another thing entirely to experience its beautify as you zip through the trails on a mountain bike.
Entries for the Winelands and Waterberg Encounter Series are now open and to ensure the races remain must-do events the organisers are offering mountain-bike enthusiasts an opportunity for a significant discount.
The Winelands Encounter
The Winelands Encounter is a three-day race that showcases the Western Cape’s beautiful riding terrain that links Franschhoek and Paarl with a two-night stop-over at the majestic Le Franschhoek Hotel.
“We feel the Winelands Encounter is a hidden gem, with two nights at the luxurious Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa making for a great getaway with your partner,” says Erick Oosthuizen, chief executive of ASG events.
“When you throw in the awesome trails with clear route marking, wonderful water-points and a special race village vibe, this is not one to miss.”
The Waterberg Encounter
The Waterberg Encounter is also a three-day race and it takes place in Limpopo’s Bela-Bela region in June. Erick adds that it has its own special attraction.
“This is a ‘lekker’ fun weekend with great tented packages which are five-star,” he explains.
“Then there is the fantastic atmosphere at the race village in Elements Private Golf Reserve, which, coupled with the special bushveld trails, make for a special time, both on and off the bike.”
A Treat For Riders
Erick says the nature of the Winelands and Waterberg races made them a perfect fit for the “corporate or club-type rider”.
“The routes aren’t super long or technical and we place the emphasis on providing a treat for the riders in all aspects of the race.”
The organisers are offering an early-bird discount of 25% off the premium package for the first 50 entries in each event.
“The most positive feedback we received was that competitors saw the events as great value for money and we aim to ensure next year is another experience for the memory bank.
