5 Best African Destinations According to SAA Crew

Date:

The African continent is bursting with unique cultures, food, history, architecture and people, and South African Airways crew members can testify to this. We’ve put together a list of some of their favourite African destinations and the reasons they are worth a visit.

MUST-SEE AFRICAN DESTINATIONS AS SHARED BY SAA CREW

Cape Town

Cabin Crew member Steven Peterson’s favourite holiday destination is right here on homesoil. “My favourite holiday destination is Cape Town, possibly because that’s where I come from and there’s no place like home! Coming in to land there and seeing the sea always takes my breath away. There’s a lot you can enjoy in the city without spending much money.

Nigeria

Donald Mothibe is one SAA Cabin Crew member with an insatiable passion for the continent and what it has to offer. “The nightlife in Africa is quite wonderful, and you must sample African food, like jollof rice in Ghana and Nigeria’s spicy cuisine. The beer is also amazing.

Mauritius

Senior Purser for Cabin Services Jeremy Anton Pearce enjoys tropical island nation Mauritius. “I love the relaxed atmosphere, the easy three-and-half-hour travel time, the people and their hospitality. Mauritians are very service-centric, which is touching. There’s quite a bit to do there, but I prefer doing nothing when I’m on holiday.

Ghana

SAA Purser Nobabini Mhlom says Ghana is her favourite destination. “I love Ghana. It’s so inspiring to see how hard-working, humble and respectful Ghanaians are. You see them selling all sorts of merchandise on the streets to make a decent living, regardless of their circumstances.

Egypt and Tanzania

A few destinations from the continent are on Cabin Crew member Wandisile Mafuya’s bucket list. “Next would be the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Closer to home, I would love to see the wildebeest migration in Tanzania and visit Lake Malawi.
