THE ROCK RESTAURANT, ZANZIBAR
Situated on the Indian Ocean side of this Tanzanian island, The Rock sits just off Michamwi Pingwe beach, perched upon a coral outcrop in a spectacularly clear tropical sea.
THE HARD BIT
That will be getting a table. There are only 12 in this little establishment and, given the stellar reputation of The Rock Special signature dish (grilled lobster, cigal, prawns, king fish and calamari), securing yours requires plenty of forward planning.
GETTING THERE
Fly on SAA’s daily direct flights to Dar es Salaam and catch a connecting flight to Zanzibar. At low tide you can wade to The Rock from the beach and at high tide, a small fishing boat will row you there.
