Candlelight Concerts return to Paarl’s Cathedral Cellar

Date:

KWV’s Cathedral Cellar in Paarl will once again host the Candlelight Concerts series following a well‑received debut last year. The historic wine cellar will be transformed into an intimate music venue lit by hundreds of candles, creating a distinctive setting for classical and contemporary performances.

The Cathedral Cellar is one of KWV’s most notable spaces, known for its domed ceilings, cathedral‑like proportions and carved stukvats. Opening this venue to live music adds a cultural dimension to a landmark usually associated with winemaking. Audience feedback from the first series described the experience as “sublime” and “dreamlike,” with many noting the strong connection between the venue and the music.

2026 Programme

Two concert evenings are scheduled:

21 March 2026
Candlelight: Tribute to Coldplay at 18:00
Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA at 20:30

25 April 2026
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at 18:00
The Best of Hans Zimmer at 20:30

Each performance lasts 60 minutes, with doors opening 45 minutes before the show. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and guests aged eight and older may attend. Seating is assigned on a first‑come, first‑served basis within each zone.

Booking

Visitors can also pre‑book a Mediterranean Tapas Platter for Two with wine at the KWV Emporium for R455. Tickets range from R600 to R880 and are available at www.feverup.com/en/paarl-south-africa.
